ATHLETIC TRAINING
Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 One Semester/.5 credit
Prerequisite: Personal Fitness or Instructor Approval
This class is designed for the advanced athlete that wants to participate in a class targeted toward the needs of their specific sport. The student will participate in a variety of fitness components that could include strength training, speed development, individual skill
development, and cardiorespiratory training such as sprints and running drills. For a student to enroll in this course, they need to consider their sport for the following season. If enrolling for the fall course, the participants in the winter and spring sports are considered. When enrolling for the spring course, the participants in the fall sports are the students that are considered. Emphasis is also placed on specialized weight training programs, injury rehabilitation and prevention, and health and nutrition as it relates to a healthy athlete.
